amazon.com (Listmania List): www.amazon.com Discogs: www.discogs.com ***** Taken from liner notes ***** Øystein Sevåg: "Spiral" and "Circle" (from "Bridge" / Hearts of Space 11081) For almost ten years Norwegian composer Øystein Sevåg has been building a personal style with a memorable series of beautifully crafted albums, including "Visual", with Lakki Paley, "Close Your Eyes and See", "Link" and "Global House". "Spiral" packs a world of expression into just over a minute as Sevåg’s luminous piano descends to introduce the string orchestra. "Circle" continues the fall with a gorgeous flow and rich melodic conversation between the saxaphone, piano, violin and orchestra, then settles into a jazzy groove and finally winds up in new territory somewhere between jazz and chamber music. Joanie Madden: "Pinehurst" (from "Song of the Irish Whistle 2" / Hearts O’ Space 11090) Volume 2 of Joanie Madden’s best-selling solo series features guest vocals by the famous Celtic sisters Mary and Frances Black, the lying fiddle of Eileen Ivers, and the elegantly warm piano of John Boswell – plus uilleann pipes, bass, guitars, budhran, accordian, harp and percussion. It is a mix of gorgeous ballads, sprightly dances, and two lavishly orchestrated film tracks with the sound that drove "Titanic" score to megahit status. Here’s "Pinhurst" from the film of the same name, arranged and produced by Brian Keane. Mychael and Jeff Dana: "Hills of Ireland" (from "A Celtic Romance" / Hears O’ Space …
